In the Pacific Northwest, we are well accustomed to the light, steady rainfall that has become the calling card of the region. While most residents don’t seem to mind the rain, it can wreak havoc on an automobile’s paint job over time. So when I decided to splurge and get an Audi last summer, I knew that I would have to take some measures to protect the exterior from the rainy climate.
Of course I take the basic precautions, such as waxing my car after every wash, but I also took the liberty of investing in a waterproof car cover. Not only is the cover great for when I have to leave my car parked in a torrential downpour, but it also protects it from other damaging materials. By my home particularly, we have a surfeit of evergreens that secrete a thick, gelatinous sap that is virtually impossible to remove from a car’s exterior.
